A wonderful piece, and so well written! Yes older people should have access to internet. I recorded all my fathers memoirs on cassette tape in the 1980's...11 tapes in all. He was in his 80's at the time and could recall many details of his past. His war experience as a POW are very powerful. But also life in the south of England, in the 20's and 30's. He died a few years ago aged 95.
Older people should be given every opportunity to access the internet. I have often wondered if social sites could make it easier for older people to write down their memories and share photographs...I put this to Face Book but never got a reply. 
In fact the process of communicating as this gentlemen demonstrates is so important.
Yes as some one else blogged more items like these...please....the steady stream of articles about the current state of the UK are so depressing!
I am approaching 60 very soon as well!
